Emails to ticket buyers being marked as spam - what to do?

At Ticketbutler, our system sends out thousands of emails every day. Unfortunately, some emails don't make it to the inbox and end up in the spam or junk folder (sometimes referred to as "unwanted mail") with certain email providers.

Avoiding this issue completely is impossible since it ultimately depends on the ticket buyer's email provider and/or firewall.

If the email provider has aggressive spam filters, they may even block certain emails from reaching the spam folder altogether. This is often seen with corporate emails since many companies have strict filtering measures in place.

It's challenging to pinpoint the exact "trigger" for a spam filter, but there are several things you can do in your communication with ticket buyers to reduce the chances of your email being marked as spam.

Here are some tips:

- Avoid excessive capitalisation.
- Steer clear of multiple consecutive exclamation marks.
- Minimise the use of special characters.
- Limit the number of links in your email.
- Be cautious with specific "spammy" words, such as "discount."

In other words, keep your communication with participants simple and professional.

Resending tickets

If a ticket buyer contacts you because they can't find their ticket, there could be several reasons, such as:

- The ticket email landed in the spam folder.
- The ticket buyer entered their email address incorrectly.
- The purchase did not go through.

Start by asking the ticket buyer to check their spam filter. If the email can't be found there, you can resend the ticket buyers email by following these steps:

  1. Log in to your Ticketbutler dashboard.
  2. Click on the specific event.
  3. Choose "Guest Support".
  4. Here, you can search for the ticket buyer and resend the ticket. You can also update the email address if needed.

Sending SMS to ticket buyers

If you have an important message that you want to ensure all ticket buyers receive, you can go the extra mile by sending an SMS through your Ticketbutler dashboard. Simply navigate to the specific event and select "Attendee communication" then "SMS".

This feature is only available on Ticketbutler, not on BilletFix.
