What exactly is cancellation protection?

Cancellation protection is an additional service offered to ticket buyers during the purchase process. This service is provided by default if you use Ticketbutler's payment solution (as opposed to Stripe or your own payment gateway).

Cancellation protection was introduced during the Covid pandemic to ensure ticket buyers receive refunds in specific situations. The refund amount is automatically calculated as a percentage of the ticket price.

Cancellation protection is provided by Booking Protect, and the ticket buyer agrees to the specific terms and conditions during the purchase process. These terms and conditions can also be found here.

Booking Protect has received over 7,000 reviews on Trustpilot with an impressive overall rating of 4.6 stars. The best part is that, besides providing peace of mind to your ticket buyers, it doesn't affect your revenue, regardless of whether the ticket buyer chooses to use the protection or not.

 

How does a ticket buyer request a refund?

If a ticket buyer opted for cancellation protection during the purchase process, they can find a link to the refund form in their ticket email. They can also directly visit Booking Protect's "Apply for a refund" page.

Please note that communication with Booking Protect is in English, but their staff members are incredibly friendly and helpful in assisting customers.

It's important to remember that in most cases, the ticket buyer will need to provide documentation to support their refund request, such as a medical certificate.

 

What happens when a ticket is refunded?

Your revenue remains unaffected, as Booking Protect handles the refund process entirely from their end.

Additionally, the refunded ticket will automatically become available for sale again, allowing you to retain the revenue from the initial order and potentially earn more from the ticket (provided the event has not already taken place, of course).
